While the weather outside remains bitter and brutally cold for the foreseeable future, I will continue to spend my evenings bundled inside with blankets, space heaters, and of course, a cocktail. While some people are out scraping the icicles off of their roofs, you will find me inside dropping ice cubes into my Collins glass.
I love the way a nice whiskey drink warms me during the long cold stretches of winter, and tonight I’ll be making a Whiskey Buck using Jameson Black Barrel, lime juice, ginger syrup and Angostura bitters.
- 2 parts Jameson Black Barrel
- .75 part fresh lime juice
- .75 part ginger syrup
- 2-3 dashes Angostura bitters
I hope you all enjoy and stay warm!
While there is still another week before the official start of winter, it sure feels a lot like the dead of winter up in New England. With the snow from our first storm still lingering, the
View I’ll be enjoying as I sip on my Black Raspberry Truffle
forecast calls for another storm tomorrow. I’m not complaining (too much) because I have come to expect snow in New England in December, and it does make the holiday season feel
extra festive! So tonight I’ll be bundled up with a nice hot cocktail to warm me up as I await the second snow storm of many this season.

Instead of rushing through crazy crowds of people, why not spend the Friday after a gluttonous holiday getting ready for the duration of the holiday season with a tad more excess? If you’re in the cold weather as I am, I suggest avoiding the shopping malls and the windy weather and instead pop on some holiday music, pick out your favorite holiday movie and get comfy on the couch with a nice spiked hot chocolate!
I suggest spiking with either Hiram Walker Peppermint Schnapps (a classic) or for those with a sweet tooth- Hiram Walker Whipped!
I hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxing Thanksgiving, full of family, friends, food, and of course, booze! I personally couldn’t have had a better Thanksgiving week, and am already looking forward to next year’s Thanksgiving. But now that I have had a few days to mourn Thanksgiving’s end, I am ready for the Holiday Season! Here in CT there have been rumors of snow for tomorrow (we already had 6 inches a few weeks ago, but luckily I missed that storm as I was in Kansas City for BarSmarts Live, you can read about that trip here)
This Hiram Walker Caramel Apple Midnight Martini is perfect to enjoy during the cold weather!
Tonight to prepare for the cold (and possible snow) to come I plan on cozying up by a fire with a nice Caramel Apple Midnight Martini. This is a great recipe for the winter, and also a great martini to serve at holiday parties, which are sure to start popping up shortly!
