Countdown to V-Day – Part I

We’ve finally made it to the one week countdown to my boyfriend’s favorite day of the year. Yes, you read that right. Favorite day of the year.

Ahhh, yes. For the majority of Major League Baseball teams, February 14th is the day for Pitchers and Catchers to report to their spring training facilities in either sunny Florida or Arizona to gear up for the new season.  Needless to say, we’re getting pumped up for several months of baseball bliss ahead of us (with a little bit of March Madness thrown in, for good measure).

What? Is there another holiday you had in mind?

While I’m not one to consider myself the ‘romantic’ type, I am happy to share a number of cocktails early on this week to help inspire and prepare you for a memorable Valentine’s (or Single’s Awareness) Day. And, given it is Martini Monday in the Twitter-sphere, I am happy to share Hiram Walker’s adaptation on the quite popular French Martini.

French Martini

Shake and strain into martini glass, garnish with a lemon peel.

The sweet balance of the juices with the raspberry liqueur, coupled with the subtle scarlet color, makes this drink a fine choice for your upcoming V-Day celebrations. Give it a test ride at home tonight!
