Drink This: Sidecar

Because Michael Dietsch, over at A Dash of Bitters just called it the perfect starter cocktail, and Camper English over at Alcademics is going to be covering Cognac for some time to come, I figured I should post this classic cocktail—the Sidecar. For me, the richness of the cognac combined with the light, citrus flavors [...]

Triple Sec Makes the World Go Round

It’s true—triple sec is vital to any respectable home bar and is required to make many a wonderful cocktail. I bought my first bottle of triple sec to use in margaritas but soon after found there are so many more uses for this wonderful ingredient—that citrus punch and touch of sweetness can really help to [...]

Mardi Gras Cocktails

Ok, so I’ve got to be honest. I’ve never really understood the whole Mardi Gras thing. It’s kind of French, it’s kind of Catholic, it’s the day before Lent but it’s total debauchery. Are we just trying to get all the sinning out before Lent starts, or is it just an excuse to party hard [...]

Oscar Night Libations

Oh yeah…I’m that girl. I’m the girl who waits for Awards season all year long. I try to see as many of the nominated films as possible. I have my girlfriends over for cocktails and fancy-schmancy appetizers and we “oooo” and “ahhh” over the glamour of the red carpet. Yep, that’s me.

I’m not ashamed [...]

The People’s Peppermint Crush

From time to time, I like to take a look at the analytics for Cocktail Culture. It’s really interesting to me to see where you all are coming from and how you got here. One thing I’ve noticed, of late, is that there are a lot of visitors ending up at Cocktail Culture who are [...]

Game Time

Super Bowl Sunday is upon us and, as always, I am looking for cocktail & appetizer ideas for a party. While I could care less who wins this year (if the Pats aren’t in it, I’m not interested), I still love to gather ‘round the tube with friends and enjoy a few tasty tipples and [...]

Winter Warmer

I’m not a winter person. There, I said it. I’ve lived in New England my whole life—seen blizzards, ice storms, and ever-so-many Winter Weather Advisories, but I never get used to it. Sure, a white Christmas is nice, but I think the cold weather should go out with the Christmas tree, come January 1st. Instead, [...]

Mom’s Christmas Cocktail

Is it strange to get a voicemail from your mother at 8 o’clock in the morning, asking you to try this new cocktail recipe she’s stumbled across? I thought so, but I have strict orders to post this one on the blog (plus it does sound pretty tasty & easy to make!). Haven’t tried it [...]
